 Cheap in price and design, discs turn over easilyAug 20, 2009

For $[...] (with free shipping) you get a cheap basket and three discs that turn over very easily when thrown with force or into the wind. I would recommend this for someone who doesn't mind tinkering with the basket to assemble it. Mine was missing an important bolt and the basket halves didn't fit together properly. I used zip ties to cinch everything down and now it works fine. The yellow plastic beads have nylon cords running through them from the top of the basket to the base. Two of the nylon cords have come loose after about 50 discs landed in the basket. I reconnected them, then put zip ties on all of the cords to keep them from failing. One of the chords with beads was strung improperly so that the yellow plastic "chain" was twisted 180 degrees.
The Halex brand discs are made of hard plastic, and are not up to the quality standards of Innova, Discraft or other PDGA approved discs. The slow speed putter disc that comes with the set holds its line pretty well. When thrown hard or when the wind catches the underside of the disc, the driver and mid-range both tend to veer wherever the wing was pointed at release, flip then roll. In no wind, the mid-range has a very slight s-curve like a weak Innova Stingray on a 120 ft toss.
Bottom line: If you don't mind tinkering with it during set up and fixing poor design flaws, and you don't throw the easy-to-flip discs very hard, then this makes for a cheap way to own a basket and three discs for short distance, backyard playing. Not recommended for heavy duty needs.

The guys in my family are disc golf fanatics. This was the perfect gift for them. It sets up quickly and easily for the times they can't go to the course. It is light weight so they can move it around the yard. The four legs help keep it steady. This gift was an ace!

Don't buy this if you're expecting quality discs, buy this if you would like your own portable basket.
Cons:
-The discs suck
-The "chains" are essentially yarn/nylon shielded in plastic/resin beads. The "chains" are not built to last.
-Heavier than it needs to be.
Pros:
-Portable. The base (quad pod) folds for easier transport.
-Easy to assemble. If you think it's difficult then you never should have picked up a tool in the first place.
-Aside from the "chains" the structure of the basket is sound.
-If you don't mind making modifications, such as replacing the "chains" with real chains you can pick up for about $10 at a hardware store, this is a great basket for home use.
I have made the modifications mentioned above, if you do the same, this 3/5 star product could be bumped up to 4/5.
I got this as a gift from someone who is ignorant about disc golf, but I enjoy it all the same. I may not have specifically chosen it if I were to have bought it, but I am satisfied with it.

golf in your living room...this was a lot of bang for the buck...just little, 6 mini disks...get a fix when you can't get out. It's not made of steel but it's a decent basic active toy - recommend!

This basket is awesome, first of all you can't beat the price, so I was happy to begin with. When I got the basket I was really impressed at how easy it was to assemble, I'm not an engineer but I think I could have done it without the instructions. The discs that came with it were kind of a let down but I just considered them a bonus anyway. I play a lot of disc golf and this basket works almost as good as a regulation basket, it stops the discs great and most of them stick. Great product I would highly recommend this product as a very avid disc golfer.
